This Sunday we will be honoring our veterans during the worship service.  We will allow our veterans to share their branch of the service and when they served.  Following the time of recognizing and thanking our veterans, we will provide an opportunity to remember those family members who gave their lives during their time of service.  We will close this portion of worship with a prayer remembering the women and men who today are serving our country.

This Sunday will be our Thanksgiving Meal.  Kenneth and Jane Mitchell have provided the turkeys and dressing for us.  Donna Scheihing, Ardell Morton and Sherry High are cooking the turkeys.  Gerald Chambers will be cooking our mashed potatoes and gravy.  I am so grateful for those who have volunteered to cook.  If you would be willing to help prepare the tea and coffee and get everything ready on Sunday morning, please call me at 824-2691.

I hope that everyone will be able to join us in our time of Thanksgiving.  Please bring your favorite Thanksgiving food!  I cannot wait!

The Sanctuary Heat and Air and the Children’s/Youth Heat and Air on the second floor should be fully installed by Sunday.  We may have a couple of little items to finish up.  I want to thank the Capital Renovation Committee and the Board of Trustees for their work in helping us to provide a more comfortable environment for worship and learning.

You will be given an opportunity to support this project starting Sunday, November 20.  You may wish to give a check to this project or make a pledge payable over the next three years.  We have almost one-half of the funds needed for this project.  If we raise more than the $40,000 to pay off the rest of the cost of this project, those funds will roll over to fund the next step of our Capital Renovation project.  Our goal is to provide the next generation a worship and learning facility that will serve them well for years to come as we renovate our entire church facility.

If you have not yet turned in your Discipleship Card for 2017, please do so at your earliest convenience.  Your estimate of giving for 2017 will enable us to set our church budget for 2017.  We have Discipleship Cards available in the Sanctuary.  You may place your completed Discipleship Card in the offering plate.

For our church to better meet the needs of those in our community and to better serve those who attend our church, we need the following the volunteers.  If you would be willing to serve in any of these areas, please let me know.  Your service and investment in our children and youth could make a difference for decades to come.

1.    One Nursery Volunteer for the third Sunday of the month.

2.    Two Nursery Volunteers to serve when we have a fifth Sunday.

3.    Two substitute Nursery Volunteers.

4.    Children’s Sunday School assistants.

5.    Junior High Sunday School assistant.

6.    Youth Sunday School teacher and assistant.

Thank you.  I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday as we listen to what Jesus tells his disciples about how to faithfully live and serve during times of unrest.
