WORSHIP ON SUNDAY
Do you remember when you first became aware that God loved you and wanted to be in a relationship with you? Do you remember when you became aware that God had a purpose for your life? Do you remember those times, over the years, when you felt that God was calling you to do or say something?
This Sunday, we will be looking at the call or purpose that God has for our life. We are not on this earth by accident. We are not on this earth going through the journey of our life to have no effect on the world around us. There is a difference in the lives of others that each of us can make. There is a call on our life. Our world can be a better place because we are here. Other people’s lives can be changed because their life has encountered ours.
I hope that each of you will be able to join us as we worship our loving God whose presence in us can transform our world.
Our Groundhog Dinner will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Holly Rice is serving as this year’s chairperson. I am so proud of the many of you who have already stepped forward to help in the advertising, selling tickets, gathering auction items, making reservations, ordering the sausage, purchasing other food and supplies. Truly this is an all-church event!
We will once again be serving the original recipe sausage. The rest of the food will be wonderful as usual. If you have not yet signed up to serve, the sign-up sheets are on the foyer table at the church. I hope that you will invite your friends and neighbors to our Groundhog Dinner. We have and will take steps to reduce the waiting time in the lines. We want the welcoming and serving experience to be as wonderful as our food. Tickets are available for sale in the church office. If you have auction items to donate, please contact me.
The youth will go bowling at the 89er Bowl on this Sunday at 4:00 pm. Please let the youth in your family know that they are welcomed to join us. For more information, call our pastor at (405) 824-2691.
We will be starting a Confirmation Class for youth in 5th through 8th Grade on Sunday, February 12th at 4:00 pm. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall. If you know of any youth in our church in 5th through 8th Grade, please invite them to join us on February 12th.
Confirmation is the opportunity that our church provides for our youth to help them better understand what it means to be a Christian. This is the journey to help our youth transition from a faith that was given to them to a faith that is owned by them. Confirmation is not a destination. It is just another step in the life-long journey of our growing relationship with a living God.
This is my first blog post.
