Welcome to the First United Methodist Church of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Guthrie, a community rich in historic significance, was settled on Monday, April 22, 1889. On this same day, the Rev. E. F. Hill was establishing our church. Our church has continued to serve the people of Guthrie and the surrounding area for more than 125 years.
It is my privilege to serve as the pastor of this historic church. It is my desire to help every person who is a part of this congregation to live a life as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that the Christian faith, which is around two thousand years old, is not a possession we hold for our own benefit. It is a lifestyle that God offers to us and those around us so that together we might build a better tomorrow. Jesus Christ came to give us more than eternal life. Jesus Christ came so that God’s Kingdom might transform our world during our life time.
If you are looking for a church built upon a foundation that has stood the test of time, is relevant to today’s needs, and is life-transforming for you and those around you, I invite you to come and join us as we embark upon this life-changing and society-transforming journey with Jesus Christ.

How do I get there?
Guthrie, Oklahoma is situated about 30 miles north of Oklahoma City. It's just a straight shot up (or down if you live north of Guthrie) I-35. If you're coming from northwest OKC you can take the Hefner Parkway north which turns into state highway 74. Either way, take the highway 33 exit and head toward downtown Guthrie. We're right in the heart of the community at the corner of Noble Avenue (highway 33) and Broad street across from the Homeland grocery store. Click HERE for a map.
Where do I park?
Turn north onto Broad street and enter our parking lot which is situated on the north side of the church. All of our doors will be unlocked and ready for you on Sunday morning. If you need an accessible entrance just look for the burgundy awning which is above our elevator entrance. If you're still having trouble, just flag one of us down and we'll walk in with you...we're a friendly group!
Where do my kids go?
We love kids! Our nursery is downstairs and is available during our worship service for children ages 6 months through 3 years. Older children attend the worship service with their families until just before the sermon when we have our "Children's Moment." After Children's Moment, children ages 4 through 8 are invited upstairs to Children's Church, which lasts until just before our final hymn when they are brought back into the sanctuary to be with their families again. (note: there is no Children's Moment or Children's Church on Communion Sundays).
