Charter Oak Gatherings

See, I am doing a new Thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness….

Welcome to Charter Oak, a new faith expression being developed by Guthrie First United Methodist Church.  We will be holding gathering meetings in 2019 as we share our vision, mission and hope for this new faith expression.  We welcome all who are not part of a regular church tradition or might be interested in helping for a new, meaningful and authentic faith expression.

Our Vision: is to proclaim the gospel afresh as we confirm that God is still at work to reach new people in new places and in new ways, that above all are life giving and life transforming gatherings centered upon the teachings, life and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Our Hope: That this fresh and new expression (Charter Oak) of faith seeks to make a difference in the lives of its members, in our community and through our connection with the United Methodist Church, participate in mission and ministry around the world.

Our Goal: To extend our hands, arms and feet in authentic Christian love to all our neighbors, inviting non-religious and non-active Christians as well as those from any denomination to become passionate Christ Followers.

Our Mission: is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ who worship passionately, who radically invite and welcome others, who are intentional in the development of their faith, and are willing to take risk in order to make a difference in the lives of others.

Our Beliefs: are built upon solid and historical Christian teachings and faith as expressed through the profession of faith known throughout the world (and shared by most all Christian denomination’s) and known as the Apostles’ Creed and embracing a contemporized affirmation of faith as found in the song We Believe (composed by Travis Ryan): the following is slightly paraphrased from the original.

Getting Involved: If you are interested in getting involved in an exciting, new and fresh approach to growing our Christian faith, then please contact Pastor Alan R. Nagel at the Guthrie First UMC (405) 282-4297 or send an email to him pastor@guthriefirstumc.org
